No Changes to Camp Sessions Expected – April 20th

TDI has been closely monitoring statements from the Center for Disease Control, California Department of Public Health, and Governor Newsom. After speaking with our host universities, we still expect that camp will proceed in-person and with few to no major changes.

However, we also have contingency plans in place. We are prepared to have single-person dorm rooms, smaller labs, and no camp-wide gatherings should these accommodations be needed. TDI will provide an excellent camp experience even if in three months social distancing policies have relaxed but are still partially in place.

While we don’t foresee this being necessary, we also have a plan to host camp online if in-person gatherings are not possible. Students would be auto-enrolled in an online program, and refunded the difference in tuition. We feel that TDI is uniquely suited to provide an excellent online experience. Our staff includes teachers who currently use distance learning and coaches who regularly instruct students via web conferencing.

Given that camp starts in mid-July, we are reluctant to move camp sessions online prematurely; recent conversations with host universities make us as convinced as ever that it can be avoided. We know how special the in-person camp experience is to our students, and we will do everything we can to have in-person programs so long as it does not compromise student safety.

As always, student safety and wellbeing is our primary concern. If you have any questions please email us at office@debateintensive.org.

* In the event of program cancellation full refunds (including security deposits) will be issued.
